Alex Garland is a British writer, novelist, and filmmaker. He has written several novels including "The Beach" and "The Tesseract". He also wrote the screenplays for the films "28 Days Later", "Sunshine", and "Dredd". In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the science-fiction film "Ex Machina", which earned him critical acclaim and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay nomination.
