Angela Davis is a political activist and academic who gained prominence in the 1960s as a member of the Communist Party USA and involvement in the Black Panthers movement. She has since become a leading figure in the struggle for social justice, focusing on issues of race, gender, and class. Davis is also a professor emerita at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
