Bob Geldof is an Irish singer-songwriter, best known for his role in the band The Boomtown Rats. He is also an activist, having organized the Live Aid charity concert in 1985 to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. In 1986, he was awarded an honorary knighthood for his humanitarian work.
