Burl Ives was an American actor, musician, and writer known for his distinctive voice and folk music. He appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout his long career, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Big Country" in 1959. He also released several successful albums, including "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," which has become a beloved Christmas classic. Ives died in 1995 at the age of 85.
