Dick Powell was an American actor, singer, producer, and director who had a career spanning over five decades. He appeared in over 50 films and starred in several popular musicals such as Gold Diggers of 1933, On the Avenue, and Footlight Parade. He later transitioned to playing dramatic roles and became successful in film noir, starring in classics such as Murder, My Sweet and Cry Danger. He also had a successful career in television, producing and starring in shows like Shotgun Slade and The Dick Powell Show. He died in 1963 at the age of 58.
