Don Shirley was an American pianist and composer. He is best known for his contributions to jazz music and for his collaborations with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and Ornette Coleman. Shirley also composed music for films, including the soundtrack for the 1968 film "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter".
