Edgar Kennedy was a prolific American character actor in the 1930s and 1940s. He frequently played gruff authority figures or befuddled fathers in comedies, and was known for his slow-burn reactions and exasperated expressions. He appeared in over 500 films and was often partnered with other well-known comedians of the time, such as Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers. He passed away in 1948 at the age of 55.
