Elisabeth Sladen was a British actress best known for her role as Sarah Jane Smith in the television series Doctor Who from 1973-1976 and 2006-2011. She also starred in her own spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures. Sladen passed away in 2011 at the age of 63.
