François Truffaut was a French film director and screenwriter, known for his influential contributions to the French New Wave movement of the 1950s and 1960s. He directed numerous acclaimed films, including The 400 Blows and Jules and Jim, and was also a film critic and author. He died in 1984 at the age of 52.
