Gene Lockhart was a Canadian-American character actor, known for his roles in films such as "Algiers", "His Girl Friday", and "Going My Way". He was also a stage actor and singer, appearing in numerous Broadway productions. Lockhart was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in the 1938 film "Algiers". He passed away in 1957.
