George R. R. Martin is an American author and screenwriter known for his epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which was adapted into the hit HBO television show, Game of Thrones. He is also the author of several other novels, short stories, and television scripts. Martin was born on September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey.
