Gordon Parks was an American photographer, filmmaker, writer and composer, who became prominent in the 1960s for his work on issues of civil rights and poverty. He was the first African-American staff photographer at Life magazine, and became one of the most celebrated photographers of his time, noted for his portraits of celebrities and African-American life.
