Herschell Gordon Lewis was an American filmmaker, best known for his low-budget horror films in the 1960s. He is often referred to as the "Godfather of Gore" due to the explicit violence and gore in his movies. Lewis directed over 30 films in his career and was also an author and advertising executive. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 87.
