Jack Purvis

Jack Purvis (1906-1962) was an American jazz musician and bandleader. He played trumpet and saxophone and was known for his innovative and energetic style, influencing many younger musicians. Purvis recorded and performed with numerous jazz greats, including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and Louis Armstrong. He also composed several pieces of music, including the popular tune "Down Georgia Way."
