He had a prolific career, appearing in films such as "The Big Knife" and "Anatomy of a Murder," as well as numerous television series, including "The Twilight Zone," "Gunsmoke," and "Mission: Impossible." He was also highly respected as a stage actor, winning a Tony Award for his performance in "That Was the Week That Was."
