James Gleason (1882-1959) was an American actor and playwright. He appeared in over 100 films, including "Meet John Doe" and "The Bishop's Wife," as well as on stage in his own plays. Gleason's distinct voice and comedic timing made him a popular character actor in Hollywood's Golden Age.
