James Northcote
James Northcote (1746-1831) was an English painter and writer. He studied under Joshua Reynolds and became a successful portrait painter, depicting many notable figures of his time such as William Wilberforce and Samuel Johnson. He also wrote biographies of Reynolds and a memoir of his own life.
