Jim Carroll

Jim Carroll was an American poet, author, and punk musician born in 1949. He gained notoriety in the 1970s with his autobiographical book "The Basketball Diaries", which chronicled his experiences as a teenager in New York City. He went on to release several albums with his band, The Jim Carroll Band, and continued to write and perform until his death in 2009.
