John Singleton

John Singleton (1968-2019) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for directing the critically acclaimed film "Boyz n the Hood" (1991), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director, making him the first African American and youngest person ever nominated in that category. Singleton also directed other films such as "Poetic Justice" (1993), "Higher Learning" (1995), and "2 Fast 2 Furious" (2003). He passed away in 2019 at the age of 51.
