John Sturges (1910-1992) was an American film director known for his work in the Western and war genres. He directed and/or produced notable films such as "The Magnificent Seven," "The Great Escape," and "Bad Day at Black Rock." He also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director for "The Great Escape."
