José Ferrer was a Puerto Rican actor and film director. He was the first Hispanic actor to win an Academy Award, for his performance in "Cyrano de Bergerac" in 1950. Ferrer also directed several films, including "The Great Man" (1956) and "The Shrike" (1955). He died in 1992 at the age of 80.
