Kim Il-sung (1912-1994) was a North Korean politician and revolutionary who led the country as its supreme leader from its establishment in 1948 until his death in 1994. He played a key role in the Korean War and implemented a highly centralized and authoritarian government system known as "Juche." He is revered as North Korea's founding father and is still considered to be their eternal president.
