Kon Omura was a Japanese biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1972 for his work on the discovery of lysozyme, an enzyme that attacks certain bacteria and viruses. He also studied the hormone insulin and the structure of antibodies. Omura passed away in 1995 at the age of 92.
