Lucile Gleason was an American stage and screen actress. She began her career in vaudeville before transitioning to film in the 1920s. Gleason appeared in over 70 films, including "The Women" and "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". She also frequently performed on Broadway. Gleason passed away in 1947 at the age of 53.
