Mary Pickford, known as America's sweetheart, was a Canadian-born actress who became one of the most important figures in the early Hollywood film industry. She starred in over 200 films and co-founded United Artists with Charlie Chaplin, D.W. Griffith and Douglas Fairbanks. She advocated for women's rights and was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1976.
