Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer, best known for being the first human to step on the moon on July 20, 1969, as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Prior to his space career, Armstrong served as a naval aviator in the Korean War, and later worked as a test pilot for NASA.
