Niki Lauda was an Austrian Formula One driver who won the championship three times in the 1970s and 1980s. He had a near-fatal crash in 1976, resulting in severe burns and scarring. He returned to racing the following year and continued to be a prominent figure in the sport even after his retirement, serving as a TV commentator and as a non-executive chairman for the Mercedes F1 team. Lauda passed away in May 2019 at the age of 70.
