Noboru Andô was a prolific actor and director in Japanese cinema, known for his appearances in over 400 films between the 1950s and 1990s. He often played tough-guy roles in yakuza and samurai films, and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Japanese Academy Awards in 1993.
