Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch in British history. She ascended to the throne in 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI. Throughout her reign, she has been a symbol of stability amid changing times and has played an important role in modernizing the monarchy. She has overseen numerous changes and milestones, including the devolution of power to Scotland and Wales, the marriage of her son Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles, and the marriage of her grandson Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.
