Robert Altman was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his innovative style, ensemble casting, and satirical social commentary. He directed over 30 films in a career spanning five decades, including M*A*S*H*, Nashville, and Gosford Park. He died in 2006 at the age of 81.
