Robert Benchley (1889-1945) was an American humorist, writer, and actor known for his witty columns and essays in The New Yorker magazine. He also appeared in several films, including "The Major and the Minor" and "Nice Girl?" He was a member of the Algonquin Round Table, a group of writers and intellectuals known for their cleverness and wit.
