Stephen Hawking was a British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who is widely considered to be one of the most brilliant scientists of the 20th century. Despite being diagnosed with a motor neuron disease at the age of 21 and being wheelchair-bound for most of his life, he made groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of cosmology, black holes, and the origins of the universe. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 76.
