Sterling Hayden was an American actor who appeared in over 70 films between the 1940s and 1980s. He played both leading and supporting roles, and is perhaps best known for his performances in "The Asphalt Jungle" (1950), "The Killing" (1956), and "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" (1964). Hayden also had a distinguished career as a writer, publishing several books and articles throughout his life.
