Tatsuo Endō (遠藤達雄) was a Japanese playwright and novelist. Born in 1927 in Tokyo, he studied philosophy at the University of Tokyo before focusing on writing. Endō's works often explored themes of religion and spirituality, and he is considered one of Japan's most prominent Christian authors. He passed away in 1996.
