Vic Tayback was an American actor who is best known for his role as the diner owner Mel Sharples in the television series Alice. He also appeared in numerous films and TV shows throughout his career, earning an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe award for his work. Tayback passed away in 1990 at the age of 60.
