William Goldman (1931-2018) was an American playwright, novelist, and screenwriter. He wrote the classic novels "The Princess Bride" and "Marathon Man," and won Academy Awards for his screenplays for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "All the President's Men." He died at the age of 87 from complications due to colon cancer.
